Don't Call It A Comeback: Why Analog Will Always Have An Audience. In April, 2019, 827,000 vinyl albums were sold during the 12th annual Record Store Day week. According to Nielsen Music, that's the third-largest sales week for vinyl albums since 1991, when the company first began tracking sales. Cassette tape sales are also on the rise, and some artists are turning to analog recording practices. Source URL: www.the1a.org/shows/2019-05-02/revenge-of-analog. The full story. Plus, listen on 1A.
When you listen to vinyl, you have to physically handle the record, place it on the turntable, and drop the needle. This process slows you down and forces you to pay attention to the music and be careful with how you handle it. There's a certain tactile satisfaction in the process of flipping over the record, listening to the sound of the needle as it drops, and feeling the vibrations of the music through the turntable. This is part of what makes vinyl such a special and unique format. Complaining about the quality of Bluetooth, then, is beside the point. And if you think back to the teenage bedrooms of people who grew up with vinyl, you can bet that their cheap plastic record players were way, way worse than the Bluetooth players of today, and it didn't matter back then, either.

The good news is, vinyl continues to grow, and listeners can continue to enjoy it, whether on a Bluetooth turntable or a high-end device. However good (or bad) it sounds. Source URL: www.lifewire.com/why-bluetooth-turntables-miss-the-point-but-are-great-anyway-7107607.
Records get dusty and dirty and need to be cleaned. Machines run from $50 to $4,000, or you can do it by hand. Yes, cleaning really does make a difference to the sound! Source URL: www.lifewire.com/did-you-know-you-can-buy-a-500-dollar-machine-just-for-cleaning-records-7152660.
Vinyl records outsold CDs for the first time since 1987. That's 35 years folks. Times have changed. Vinyl sales grew for the 16th consecutive year in 2022, with 41 million albums sold, compared to 33 million CDs. Streaming is still the biggest driver of the music industry's growth. We love our job and customers: We are Colleen and Gus and besides the store we are promoters of the first record show in Columbus and we have been promoting this show since 1978.
About us: We both have enjoyed collecting since the 1960's. I, (Colleen) collected coins, and at the age of 12 bought a Victrola. I guess that started my record collection! I have played guitar and sang in clubs all over the country since the mid-1960's, as a solo, and with different groups. I still love to play out, when time permits. It's in my soul! My husband, Gus, collected stamps, and records. He also played guitar in bands in the 1960's and 1970's. Together we have collected toys, records and rock and roll memorabilia.
